Implicit Networks launched a law suit against Microsoft in a California district court, alleging the software giant had breached a patent it owns.

Implicit claims its patent, US 6,629,163 and with the wordy title Method and System for Demultiplexing a First Sequence of Packet Components to Identify Specific Components Wherein Subsequent Components are Processed without Re-Identifying Components is used in Microsoft's Windows Filtering Platform.

Link Removed due to 404 ErrorThat, the complaint alleges, is an integral part of Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008.

Implicit, which has had the patent assigned to it by an individual called Edward Balassanian, wants a jury trial and damages for the alleged breach of the patent.
