Hi all,

I have installed windows vista then windows 7 in 64 bits version in order to get my computer memory higher. They work fine !
I had trouble with both system when installing a firewall or internet security third party (my network config : wireless connection through a gateaway, wifi extender, PLC based network...). I tried f-secure and gdata, the first is not working with windows 7, the last screwed my connection.
De-installing these softwares and re-activating windows protection solutions solved the issue.
As far as microsoft web protection will keep my computer protected, I will be happy and will not buy/install other software anymore.
If I get corrupted, I am wondering wether I will find a software compatible with windows 7 to protect my PC without wastring a week to install it...

It seems like you've had some issues with third-party firewall and security software on Windows 7. It's important to ensure your system is adequately protected while not causing connectivity problems. Here are a few points to consider: 1. Windows Defender: Windows 7 comes with Windows Defender as its built-in antivirus and antispyware protection. It provides real-time protection against software threats like viruses, malware, and spyware. While it may not offer all the features of third-party security suites, it can be sufficient for many users. 2. Security Updates: Since Windows 7 reached its end of support in January 2020, it no longer receives security updates from Microsoft. This makes it more vulnerable to security...
It seems like you've had some issues with third-party firewall and security software on Windows 7. It's important to ensure your system is adequately protected while not causing connectivity problems. Here are a few points to consider: 1. It provides real-time protection against software threats like viruses, malware, and spyware. While it may not offer all the features of third-party security suites, it can be sufficient for many users. 2. Security Updates: Since Windows 7 reached its end of support in January 2020, it no longer receives security updates from Microsoft. This makes it more vulnerable to security threats over time. It's highly recommended to upgrade to a newer version of Windows with ongoing security updates, such as Windows 10 or Windows 11. 3. Compatibility: If you decide to stick with Windows 7 for some reason, you may need to look for security solutions that are specifically designed for Windows 7 and are still supported by their respective vendors. Some security software vendors might still provide compatible versions for Windows 7, but the options could be limited. 4. Resource Usage: Another consideration is the resource usage of the security software. Some security suites can be resource-intensive and may slow down older systems like those running Windows 7. It's essential to choose a lightweight security solution to ensure smooth operation. 5. Research and Testing: Before installing any security software, it's advisable to research and, if possible, test it on a non-production system to ensure compatibility and functionality. This can help avoid any conflicts or issues that may arise during installation or operation. While Windows Defender can offer basic protection, it's always good to have a layered security approach. You may also consider using additional security measures like keeping your system updated, being cautious with email attachments and downloads, and regularly backing up your important data.
