Could someone please let me know if there is any value in purchasing the easy upgrade cable MS offered when Vista was release (ostensibly for XP users going to Vista)? Will it make the process any faster for me when upgrading my 3 PC's from the RC to Win 7 Pro (2 had Vista Home Premium previously, the other XP Pro SP3). If the cable will make things any faster then I'll buy one, if not then I won't... Help is appreciated... [email protected]

The Easy Transfer Cable offered by Microsoft during the release of Vista was primarily targeted towards users transitioning from Windows XP to Vista. This cable facilitated the transfer of files and settings from the old XP system to the new Vista system. When upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 or from Windows XP to Windows 7, you won't necessarily need the Easy Transfer Cable for the upgrade process. Windows 7 has its own built-in migration tool called Windows Easy Transfer that allows you to transfer files, settings, user accounts, and more from an older Windows version to Windows 7. Here's how you can transfer your files and settings using Windows Easy Transfer: 1. Download Windows Easy Transfer: If you are upgrading...

Download Windows Easy Transfer: If you are upgrading from Windows Vista, you can download Windows Easy Transfer directly from the Microsoft website. It comes pre-installed on Windows 7. 2. Run Windows Easy Transfer: - Connect an external hard drive or USB drive to your PC. - Start Windows Easy Transfer on your Windows Vista PC. - Follow the on-screen instructions to select what you want to transfer. 3. Upgrade to Windows 7: - Perform the upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 using the installation media for Windows 7 Professional. - During the installation process, you will have the option to use Windows Easy Transfer to import your files and settings. 4. Repeat Steps for Other PCs: - Repeat the process for your other PCs upgrading from Vista Home Premium and XP Professional SP3. By following these steps, you can easily migrate your files and settings to the new Windows 7 Professional without the need for the Easy Transfer Cable. If you encounter any issues during the upgrade process, feel free to ask for further assistance.
