When I try to install WLM I get the following error.

"the procedure entry point regdeletevaluew could not be located in the dynamic link library kernelbase.dll"

Can anyone tell me why I'm getting this error and possibly how to fix it?

I would just re install windows but before i do i want to find out if there's a more simple way, maybe use the disc "with out re installing windows" To fix the registry, if that's possible.. (Only If i can kkep my 7GB and above games and other media without having to reinstall it)

If it is, I'm not sure how to do it, It doesn't help any that I'm new to windows 7.

Solution
The error you are encountering, "the procedure entry point regdeletevaluew could not be located in the dynamic link library kernelbase.dll," typically occurs when there is a mismatch between the version of the kernelbase.dll library that the program is expecting and the version that is actually present on your system. To address this issue, you can try the following steps:

Steps to Fix the Error:

  1. Update Windows: Ensure your Windows 7 is up to date by installing all available updates. This might include essential updates related to system files like kernelbase.dll.
  2. Run System File Checker (SFC):
    • Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter to open the Command Prompt.

  1. Update Windows: Ensure your Windows 7 is up to date by installing all available updates. This might include essential updates related to system files like kernelbase.dll.
  2. Run System File Checker (SFC):
    • Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter to open the Command Prompt.
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This command will scan and repair corrupted system files, including the kernelbase.dll.
    []Replace Kernelbase.dll:
    • Locate a working version of kernelbase.dll from a Windows 7 installation disk, another computer with the same version of Windows, or download it from a trusted source online.
    • Replace the faulty kernelbase.dll file in your system's System32 folder located in C:\Windows\System32. Be cautious and ensure you replace it with the correct version to avoid further issues.

      Regarding Registry Fix:

      • Editing the registry can be risky, especially for a new Windows user. It's recommended to create a System Restore Point before making any changes.
      • To use a Windows installation disc to repair the registry, you can perform a System File Check (SFC) or use the System Recovery Options available on the disc.

      Backup Your Data:

      [
    • ]Before attempting any fixes, ensure you have backups of your important data, including games and media files, to prevent any data loss during the troubleshooting process.

      Reinstallation as Last Resort:

    • If the above methods do not resolve the issue, reinstalling Windows might be a last resort. You can perform a repair installation from the Windows installation disc, which can retain your files and applications while fixing system issues. Feel free to try these steps, and if you encounter any difficulties or need further assistance, don't hesitate to ask!
