When I try to play my avi files on this new Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS, it stutters every few seconds.
It starts off going fine for about 5 seconds, then starts stuttering.
I don't get this problem with any other things like games.
I never had this problem either on Vista with the same files.

I've tried to use Win7DSFilterTweaker to swap the codecs that WMP uses to ffdshow instead of the Microsoft one, as I've heard that it wasn't as compatible.
I've also installed K-Lite Codec Pack 64 bit, but to no avail.

Currently I have a:
Quad Core Q9550 @2.83 GHz
4 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD4870 (Drivers up to date)

Thank you for your help!

    ]Try a Different Media Player:
    • Use a different media player like VLC Media Player or MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema) to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, third-party media players handle codec compatibility better.
    []Codec Pack Troubleshooting:
    • Uninstall the K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit if you have installed it. Sometimes codec packs can conflict with each other and cause playback issues.
    • Instead of codec packs, try installing individual codec components needed for AVI playback.
    [
    ]Check System Performance:
    • Monitor your system's performance while playing the AVI files. Check if any other applications are consuming a large amount of system resources.
  2. Hardware Acceleration:
    • Disable hardware acceleration in the media player settings and see if it helps with playback stability.

      Additional Information:

    • Windows 7 Codec Pack: You can try installing the "Windows 7 Codec Pack" from a reliable source to ensure you have the necessary codecs for AVI playback on Windows 7.
    • Alternative Codecs: Instead of ffdshow, you can try using other codec packs like CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) which may provide better compatibility with AVI files. Try these steps and see if they help improve the playback performance of AVI files on your Windows 7 system. If the issue persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance!
