Windows 8 "windows media player has encounter an error while playing the file"

Not all but like 50% of my Mp3 files can't be opened with WMP and I don't think it has anything to do with the music digital signature (pirated music) because even my itunes and the music I get from bandcamp.com can't be opened, so what's causing this?
