Hi,

I'm running Win7 Ultimate and Office 2007. On the whole I'm delighted with both, but sometimes when trying to open a document from Word's Jump List, or double clicking on a Word attachment in Win Live Mail, I get "there was a problem sending the command to the program". I click OK, try again and it then usually works fine!

Any ideas would be most welcome!

It seems like you are experiencing an issue with opening Word documents directly from Word's Jump List or when double-clicking on Word attachments in Windows Live Mail. The error message "there was a problem sending the command to the program" can be frustrating, but there are a few things you can try to resolve this issue:

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

1. Check Default Programs Settings:
• Make sure that Microsoft Word is set as the default program for opening Word documents.

• Make sure that Microsoft Word is set as the default program for opening Word documents.
• You can do this by going to Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your default programs.
[]Disable DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange):
• DDE is used for allowing applications to communicate with each other. Disabling it might help resolve the issue.
• In Word, go to File > Options > Advanced. Scroll down to the "General" section and uncheck the option "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)."

]Run Microsoft Office Diagnostics:
• Microsoft Office Diagnostics can help identify and fix problems with Microsoft Office programs.
• To run diagnostics, open any Office program, go to File > Help > Detect and Repair.
[]Repair Microsoft Office Installation:
• You can try repairing your Office installation in case any files are corrupted.
• Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Right-click on Microsoft Office, choose Change, then select Repair.
[
]Update Microsoft Office:
• Make sure your Office 2007 installation is up to date with the latest updates and service packs. This can help resolve compatibility issues.
• Open any Office program, go to File > Help > Check for Updates.
[]Check File Associations:
• Ensure that Word documents are correctly associated with Microsoft Word.
• Right-click on a Word document, choose "Open with," select Microsoft Word, and check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."
[
]Create a New User Profile:
• Sometimes user profile corruption can lead to such issues. Creating a new user profile can help isolate the problem. Try these steps and see if any of them resolve the issue you are facing with opening Word documents from Word's Jump List and Windows Live Mail attachments.
