If you are having problems installing a CD/DVD burning program as I am, try BurnAware free BurnAware - DVD Media Duplication Software and Blu-ray Disc Burning Software . It is a free burning program that installed and works flawlessly for me.

Though I don't really use Office 2003 in my day to day computing anymore.. I decided to test it last night and well.. not good.. Not only would it not finish the install on the 32 bit but it caused one BSOD and froze the comp up solid. I was forced to do a hard reboot just to get the installation CD out of the drive.. So chalk MS Office 2003 up there in the NOT COMPATIBLE list for now.. I'll be trying on the 64 bit version this evening.. though I don't expect any different results really... I'm still going to be thorough in my testing.. I'll report back once completed.

Hmmmm, strange. I installed Office 2003 on my 32 bit version and all went flawlessly. Updates from the original CD even self-installed. I am having a fair number of other applications that will not install, tho. HP C7280 printer driver, Nero 7 Essentials, Trend Micro House Call, Broderbund Turbo Floorplan Home and Interior, and others will not install. (I am using the public beta - build 7000.0)

I was able to connect to Windows Home Server and update without problem. A problem I initially had accessing my files saved on WHS seems to have corrected itself - perhaps after a reboot (???). I find it amusing that WHS recognizes the operating system as Vista Ultimate.

Just a note to nVidia users (SLi) and WoW:

GeForce 8600GT SLi

WoW ran great, but I noticed that SLi was NOT enabled. I enabled SLi and logged back into WoW and found that Shadows were all screwy and blinking. Yikes! I turned them OFF and all worked well, but it just didn't look the same. I downloaded the latest drivers for Vista x64 from nVidia's site, installed, rebooted and logged back into WoW and re-enabled shadows and all is working VERY well.

This 'OS' is great, loving it better than all previous releases.

This post is to remind myself and all other fellow "Beta Testers" that this evaluation will (atm) end 1 August 2009.

I almost wiped all other "os" so as to run windows7 as primary . Remembered just in time.

Office Communicator Client 2007 Issues

On teh x86 I can get majority of the stuff working, including Office Communicator client 2007. Thought I give the x64 a turn, and found that Office Communicator client 2007, giving me a certificate error and cannot get it to work. With x86 works 100% at office, 100% using 3G or ADSL. WIth x64 works 100% at office, 0% using 3G or ADSL with certificate error message. Anyone similar and what to do to get this resolved.

The only that i have problems with - bioshock. After gramophone logo it hangs up and "bioshock.exe has stopped working" message comes out.

I have been able to get Nero 7 Essentials to install, but Lightscribe will not work. Does anyone know a workaround for this?
