We have an issue here at work. We changed storage servers and as a result, we changed the computer name of the servers. Offline Files with XP are enough of a headache, but now I cannot figure out how to adjust each user's computer accordingly to synchronize to the NEW storage server and NOT the old one.

How do I go about doing that?

Solution
When changing storage servers and computer names, especially in the context of Offline Files synchronization, it's essential to ensure that users are correctly pointing to the new server to avoid synchronization issues. To adjust each user's computer to synchronize with the new storage server, you can follow these steps:
1. Update the Offline Files Configuration:
- Go to the Control Panel on each user's computer.
- Open Sync Center.
- Click on Manage offline files.
- In the Offline Files settings, select Disable Offline Files. This will help in clearing any existing sync partnerships that may cause conflicts with the new server.

2. Adjust the Sync Partnership:
- Re-enable Offline Files by selecting Enable Offline Files in the same menu.
- Click on Sync Center again to set up a new sync partnership with the new storage server.
- Add the new server's network path to the list of items to be made available offline.
3. Reinitialize the Cache:
- To ensure a clean start and prevent conflicts, you may need to reinitialize the Offline Files cache. This can be done by following these steps:
- Open a Command Prompt with administrative privileges.
- Run the command: csccmd.exe /unpinall
- Restart the computer to complete the cache reinitialization.
4. Configure Synchronization:
- After reinitializing the cache, set up synchronization with the new server by pointing the Offline Files to the correct network share on the new storage server.
5. Testing and Resolving Issues:
- Test the synchronization to ensure that files sync correctly with the new server.
- If any issues arise during synchronization or access, check permissions on the new server to ensure users have the necessary access rights.
By following these steps, you should be able to adjust each user's computer to synchronize with the new storage server effectively. This approach helps in avoiding conflicts and ensures a seamless transition to the new server configuration.
