Windows 7 Civilazation 4 and Windows 7

Trying to install Civ 4 on Windows 7 64 bit oem computer but civ4 can't detect directx11 and wants to install directx9. When I decline to install directx9, programs quits and won't let me go any further. Under the impression that I can't install ver 9 over ver 11. What would happen if I tried? Thanks.

Hi hughneutron,
probably the game would just run in DX9.. It's not a DX11 enabled game anyway so it should be fine under DX9..

Thanks. Had too download and run dxwebsetup.exe from Microsoft to get it to run.

Oh ok, normally a game will install that even if it's installed or not... At least you got the solution..

as they stated above, directx 9 can run alongside of directx 11 because directx 11 is not backwards compatible with older versions of directx
