PATA is what came before SATA. Parallel ATA. Its the old IDE cable connection. 12.7mm means its a laptop IDE drive. Hope this helps

Gotta love those oddly placed sockets, or maybe that's just the picture.
Anyways, PATA stands for Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment.
Other names include: IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics), Advanced Technology Attachment, and EIDE.

I'm assuming that SATA isn't compatbile...
Darn!

Im sure you can buy a laptop slot loading IDE drive, I know you can buy a SATA to IDE adapter also
