Windows 7 CD Drive Disappearing

I have had Windows 7 installed for about a month now.

However, my CDRom keeps disappearing almost as if the computer thinks its a removable device.

That being said I found a 'solution' to edit the registry but the fix did not work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you see your CD-Rom in Device manager ?

If you do, right click on it, select properties, and install/update driver.

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

When the CDRom drive has not disappeared it appears in Device Manager. The driver is up to date.

When it disappears it is no longer in the Device Manager.
