Windows Vista Vista Windows wallpaper problem

I have a Compaq laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic operating system. I use personal pictures as my wallpaper and one day it went black. I did have a spyware named "Spy Shredder". Since then I cannot change my wallpaper, I do not have sound, and my system is slow. I did remove the spyware and clean my registry with PC Tools products. Can anyone help?

I have the same problem exept that my spyware/virus is removed. Did yiu find i solution exept formatting?

Hi tbehof, what did you use to get rid of the spyware? Also have you run an anti-virus too?
