Coretek’s decision to run its own AI deployments before recommending them to customers is a sensible operating model, but the company’s new account of “customer zero” leaves out the numbers an enterprise buyer needs to judge whether its agents, adoption platform and Copilot workflows are producing the return it claims. A contract-review agent may encounter legal privilege, retention requirements and access-controlled documents. A RevOps agent can affect pipeline hygiene and forecasts that inform executive decisions.

Those omissions matter more than the org-chart analogy. A manager cannot meaningfully “evaluate” an agent without event logs, permissions reviews, error-rate monitoring, escalation paths, test environments and an ability to disable it quickly.
For Windows and Microsoft 365 administrators, the operational question is straightforward: is the agent merely generating a draft for a person to review, or is it acting on business systems using delegated or application permissions? The security posture, audit trail and blast radius differ sharply between those two cases.

That approval point limits how organizations should interpret Coretek’s productivity claim. Cowork can accelerate research, draft artifacts, assemble documentation, coordinate tasks and interact with files and communication tools. It is not evidence that a business has safely eliminated review from a process that creates quotes, evaluates security requirements or updates revenue forecasts. The more consequential the action, the more likely the real bottleneck shifts from drafting to validation, data quality and authorization.
Microsoft also treats Cowork as a usage-based service, with consumption visible in administrator dashboards. Coretek does not disclose its Cowork consumption, Copilot Credit spend, license mix, number of users, number of active agents or the cost basis behind its claimed faster delivery. “Days rather than quarters” may be true for a narrowly scoped internal tool; it is not a usable planning assumption for a 5,000-employee rollout without scope, staffing and cost data.
There is no baseline proposal turnaround time, no before-and-after throughput figure, no forecast-accuracy percentage, no period of measurement, no sample size and no account of how Coretek separated AI effects from process redesign, hiring, seasonal pipeline changes or ordinary automation. The company’s public homepage highlights customer outcomes such as faster financial decision-making, but those are customer case-study claims rather than evidence of the internal Coretek program described by Barnes.

Customers considering Coretek should ask for the operational evidence behind the pitch: named agent inventories, permission models, deployment timelines, adoption rates, success and failure metrics, incident handling, usage costs and examples where an agent was restricted or withdrawn. A partner willing to be customer zero should be able to share more than the happy path.
