NVIDIA has released GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.88 WHQL for Windows 10 and Windows 11, bringing launch optimization for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer beta, and Mistfall Hunter.
NVIDIA detailed the release on July 28, while Neowin reported that the driver is available through the NVIDIA app and GeForce download channels. For Halo players, this is more than a routine profile update: version 610.88 incorporates the RTX 50 Series stability fix NVIDIA previously issued as a separate hotfix for the game.
The release notes list a fix for crashes in Halo: Campaign Evolved affecting GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs using R610 drivers. That matters for players who skipped the July 23 hotfix, which was distributed outside the normal NVIDIA app update path ahead of the game’s July 28 general release.
Windows Central had reported that the earlier hotfix specifically targeted RTX 50 Series stability problems in Halo and intermittent lengthy pauses in Path of Exile 2 under DirectX 12. Both fixes are now included in the standard WHQL package.
For anyone playing the new Halo release on an RTX 50 card, 610.88 should be the baseline driver rather than an optional performance refresh.
The driver’s broader gaming fixes include:
The package also addresses an RTX Dynamic Vibrance problem affecting Wallpaper Engine and a Paint.NET launch crash when NVIDIA Surround is enabled.
GeForce GTX 10, GTX 900, and GTX 700 Series users should note that this driver does not restore mainstream support for their cards; NVIDIA lists Game Ready Security Driver 582.66 as the final supported release for those older generations. For current GeForce hardware, 610.88 is the practical update to install before the Gears of War: E-Day beta opens next week.

The Halo Crash Fix Has Moved Into the Main Driver Branch

Gears Beta and Mistfall Hunter Join the Game Ready List
NVIDIA says 610.88 is also Game Ready for Gears of War: E-Day’s multiplayer beta, which begins August 6, and for Bellring Games’ extraction-action title Mistfall Hunter. The company’s Game Ready designation typically means the driver includes launch testing and game-specific profiles, rather than guaranteeing a particular frame-rate gain. The driver’s broader gaming fixes include:
- Path of Exile 2 should no longer suffer intermittent extended pauses after long DirectX 12 sessions.
- Silent Hill f receives unspecified stability improvements.
- Strange Brigade and Zombie Army 4: Dead War should no longer crash on exit when the NVIDIA app’s in-game overlay is enabled.
- Certain DirectX 11 games should see improved frame pacing when NVIDIA Smooth Motion and G-SYNC are enabled together.
One Known Issue Remains
NVIDIA lists one remaining known issue in 610.88: the “Prefer Maximum Performance” power-management mode may not apply correctly. Users who rely on that setting for individual game profiles should verify actual GPU clocks and power behavior before assuming the profile is working as configured. The package also addresses an RTX Dynamic Vibrance problem affecting Wallpaper Engine and a Paint.NET launch crash when NVIDIA Surround is enabled.
