The Controls on this tab are the only ones that I haven't been able to use at all. Perhaps they only function in particular operations, but where I would like to be able to use them are when playing local video files, Even though I enable them, none of the sliders have the slightest effect on any file being played. If not for local files, then what? If they are for local files, then how do I make them work?

I found this link:

http://fun3md.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-setup-videolan-vlc-to-use.html

regarding enabling Atmolight, but apparently it is for an older version of VLC, because there is no Enable checkbox available. There are a couple of links provided at the top of the settings, but it speaks of some plugin being necessary. Getting a plugin isn't a problem, but the other settings seem to imply that this is for some other function than playing local files....is it?
