I need software like Todoist or Microsoft To Do that 1) I can buy and not rent, and 2) I don't have to have an existing account with someone to use (like Microsoft To Do will only work with a Microsoft account). I just want an app I can buy once and not have it tied to an email account. I've found a lot of apps like Todoist that want you to keep paying them money month after month, year after year, so a $4/month app turns out to cost hundreds of dollars over the long run. I'll pay $50 for something like ToDoist once, not year after year after year. No thanks.

Anyone?

This is not true. Their payment option only offers yearly or monthly options. The yearly option is $27.99.
