I've just begun using Win 7 and notice all dialog boxes, program windows, etc, open and close like a Mac with an animated action, not like older windows when they'd just appear on the screen. Is there any way to change this animated movement in Win 7?

I've been running Vista for a couple years and just experienced a major crash requiring a new drive and starting over with Win 7. I was using Windows Mail with Vista and created several custom folders with important info and need to somehow get these folders into Outlook, which is what I'll...
Thanks. I decided to go ahead and do a restore back to 11/04/09 and that did the trick. Back to the default Vista theme. Must have been the last update, so I've changed automatic updating to notify me first before doing anything.
No, I tried doing a restore several months ago concerning something else and it really screwed some things up, so I'm very hesitant to try it again. If I can remember how to access the list of all updates, I can see if somehow an update was done last night and if so, uninstall it.
I've been running Vista Home Premium, SP1, and Live One Care for about a year and has been very stable with no odd happenings....until today. My system normally goes through an auto tune-up once a week but that's set for Sundays in the early morning hours. Today is Friday and when I came into my...

Hi Celestra,
Yes, that's me over on the Adobe forum....D Cannon, and as I said in the post, finally figured it out. So all is rolling along pretty well now and I'm having no real issues with Vista.

UPDATE regarding the Arial Narrow font issue:
I downloaded and installed the hot fix, deleted the .lst files and am now able to use all the Arial Narrow family in InDesign....except bold. And here's the deal with that. Before downloading the hot fix, I'd read that using an older version of...
Just received the following reply from Intel:
1. As I understand you would like to disable the RAID volume data verification and repair on your system.
2. The RAID volume data verification and repair is a process that cannot be disabled since is part of the core functions of the...

Same here. It's never found any hard errors, and you're right.... once it gets going, maybe around 30% or so, programs will open and run, but slower. I understand Matrix Storage Manager making sure the disk is ok and error-free after a hard power-off, but I don't like the idea of it doing it...
It's a 500W Antec Earthwatts.
BTW, I discovered this isn't a Vista thing. The program that's doing the verify and repair is Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I've sent an inquiry to Intel about it and to see if there's a way to disable the auto verify and repair.
I recently had a new system built running a RAID array using two WD 250GB SATA drives, Vista Home Premium, Intel duo core 3.1GHz processor, 4GB mem, ASUS P5Q Pro motherboard.
I was trying an ATI Radeon HD 4670 video card and when installing the Vista drivers, the system froze and I had to shut...

Re: Aerial Narrow font not showing up after going to Vista
Thanks again, Celestra. I still haven't come across anything that will get me Arial Narrow bold, italic, and bold italic back so will just start using a different font. I'm tired of fighting this stuff.
I called Epson and after about 40 minutes on the phone with two different techs, they were unable to get the scanner operating. But after doing some reflecting on what my friend and I did to get it operating with Vista a few days ago, I remembered using the disk that came with the scanner and...
It's a custom system built by a friend I mentioned in the previous post who owns a computer business in a town about 50 mi from here. He's been building my systems for the past 12 years or so and they've always been great. We've always been able to trade out my graphics services for his...
