Why won't Windows accept a driver that worked a few weeks ago?

If you've gone through the cleanout process then it pretty well only leaves some incompatibility with the driver and the Windows upgrade I suspect. I've never had much luck any time I tried to use BCDEdit so the issue might lie there. It's a tough one for sure. Cheers.

screen suddenly scrolls on its own in various apps

Well, it’s not the wireless MS mouse as I switched and the problem still exists. I’m using MS Office 2016 which seems kinda buggy as I’ve had odd problems in Excel since I installed some time ago. But the scrolling also happens when I’m on Facebook. I’ll do some research on both and see if it’s...

Why won't Windows accept a driver that worked a few weeks ago?

Not sure I can help but here goes: the first part I recognize as I had one of two 500 GB drives in my Asus N76V start getting corrupt sectors which caused a lot of files to get corrupt headers and finally caused boot errors. I finally got it running after about 25 attempts and immediately...

    Fans not working

Some mobo's have utility suites so you can see temps and fan speeds etc. For example Asus have an AIsuite which allows direct access to fans and a lot of other functions. Might check if yours has such software available. I have mine removed at moment because it's overhead I don't need but was...

screen suddenly scrolls on its own in various apps

I'm having an issue with scrolling while typing in Excel, Facebook and other apps for no apparent reason. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be a driver issue or mouse issue? Any suggestions welcome.

Windows 7 Opera runs but no GUI display

Well, I updated all my drivers, including Nvidia, and lo-and-behold it fixed the problem. While Nvidia was doing updaed it launched Opera to display a html file so as soon as it had finished I checked it and all was good agian. After that I installed google Chrome again and it also is behaving...

Windows 7 Opera runs but no GUI display

I've been dumfounded with this issue for a couple of months. Opera released a new upgrade and I let it install automatically as I usually do. Have used Opera for years with no issues. Next time the program would not launch, or at least appeared no to. I ran Process Explorer (Sysinternals) and it...

Windows 7 No executable files open or run.

This sounds like a registry problem. Strange that a restore to a previous point didn't resolve it but I've had similar problems with restores right after I thought I did a boo-boo, and performed immediate restores yet the restore state was different, and some damage remained. I'd recommend...

    Windows 7 Win 7 letdown!

Thanks for the heads up on CubicExplorer, Never came across my radar last year when looking. Dir Opus does had a group function I just tried which I think does what you want. In the View Mode there is a Group by function, and when using Filename it list the folder contents a 0-9 (qty), A-H, I-P...

Windows 7 No executable files open or run.

This smacks of a registry problem with missing keys. However, strange if you restored to an earlier time than the download that it didn't solve the problem. I recommend going to Sysinternal's website and download their Suite of products, and unzip them into a directory of your choosing. I would...

    Windows 7 Win 7 letdown!

I would question why you would not want to replace Explorer with something better? Explorer has been crap forever. I like Avanquest's Powerdesk but found it too resource hogging at times. I've since moved to Directory Opus (Australian) and this is great functional sw for file management...

Windows 7 Win Explorer has no program association, MSO and other files launch Win Installer on d.click or r.cl

SOLUTION AT LAST - I had stumbled upon a solution but at the time was too brain fogged to recognize it. Explorer itself was working as it launched when activated by another program that needed an Explorer window for accessing or saving files. Also, if anything had been really wrong with...

Windows 7 Win Explorer has no program association, MSO and other files launch Win Installer on d.click or r.cl

A further update - re-installed MSO and it complained about some Groove files but since I don't need Sharepoint I circumvented it by setting it to install on first use. Ran fine and finally I could access all my DOC and DOCX files, plus double clicking on such files opened MSO Word as it should...

Windows 7 Win Explorer has no program association, MSO and other files launch Win Installer on d.click or r.cl

Since there are no takers on this complex problem, I'll update the situation. I've deleted several Nuance programs like Omnipage etc. as they were not responding properly, would not repair or de-install via Control panel. They were also indicated since when Win Installer popups launched it kept...

Windows 7 when will the problem stop ????????

You need to post a lot more information. Make, model of laptop, how big a drive, how old? Did you make any significant recent changes in OS? IMO it sounds like a hardware problem, although if the drive head has to do a lot of movement, it can chatter a lot. Might be a bad sector or something on...
