Control Resonant's Xbox achievements are now live. TrueAchievements reported on September 24, 2026, that Remedy's sequel has 49 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore. On the same day, Remedy shipped launch hotfix 1.3.3. It cuts the health and stun thresholds of most enemies and makes Dylan Faden hit harder, especially in the early hours. Players on Xbox Series X|S and PC who start now will have a noticeably less grindy opening than reviewers and early-access players did. Because the game's Assist Mode reportedly doesn't block achievements, players can also tune the difficulty to their taste without losing progress toward 1,000G.

Control Resonant's Xbox Achievements: 49 Unlocks, 1,000 Gamerscore, 19 Secret

TrueAchievements published the full Xbox list on launch day. It has 49 achievements totalling 1,000 Gamerscore, and 19 of them are secret. Those 19 show only the placeholder "Continue playing to unlock this achievement," so their conditions stay hidden until you unlock them or look them up. They include the biggest single rewards: one hidden achievement is worth 100G and another 50G, and both are probably tied to story progress.

Most of the visible achievements follow the game's progression systems. A few examples show the pattern:

AchievementRequirementGamerscore
Astral PotencyReach Aberrant Strength 10040
Versatile ExpertUnlock 30 Talents40
Zone WardenUnlock 40 Zone Upgrades20
Paranatural ArtisanCraft 30 Artifacts20

Paranatural AgilityPerform 3 Perfect Dodges in less than 6 seconds10
Intense PrecisionKeep Dominance active for 60 seconds10

A second group, mostly worth 40G each, rewards clearing the open-world side content across Manhattan. It covers dealing with all the Thresholds (Threshold Researcher), handling the major Mold Incidents (Budding Mycologist), visiting every Secret Hideout (Backroom Espionage), finishing every instance of the Sketchbook (Work-Life Balance), helping Pope finish her research (Budding Analyst), containing Altered Items for Langston (Panopticon Intern), and gaining a "furry friend" (Dog's Best Friend). There are also cosmetic achievements: Form Over Function for collecting 12 outfit items, and Out of Uniform for equipping an outfit item in every customisation slot. SHÜM! asks you to play a level in SHÜM!, whatever that turns out to be.

The TrueAchievements writer, who had played the game, thinks only one achievement is missable: Be What You Want to Be. It's tied to a side quest they described as fun and weird, and they kept the details back to avoid spoilers. That's one player's assessment. Their verdict that the list is fairly straightforward is also a personal opinion, not a measured difficulty rating. Still, the visible list backs up the general point: most of it rewards thorough play rather than skill tests, with a few exceptions like the Perfect Dodge chain.

This is the Xbox list specifically. According to Xbox Wire, Control Resonant launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere. Play Anywhere lets supported games carry saves, add-ons and achievements between Xbox consoles, PCs and supported handhelds. So a Game Pass or Microsoft Store player can move between a Series X and a Windows PC and keep one achievement record. The PlayStation 5 trophy list and the Steam achievement list are separate, and nothing here confirms they match the Xbox list exactly.

Hotfix 1.3.3 Cuts Enemy Health and Falter Thresholds in Control Resonant

The bigger news for anyone starting today is the balance patch. Remedy said it would deploy a hotfix to address enemy health pools and Dylan's combat strength, especially during the early hours of the game. The goal, in the studio's words, is that the changes will make the combat more dynamic, retain the challenge, but reduce the friction, making upgrading and respeccing more straightforward.

Remedy's own reasoning, quoted by Game Informer and Kotaku, was that enemy health pools feeling too high, requiring too many hits to Falter (stun) enemies for executions, and Dylan's overall combat strength early on in the game not feeling powerful enough were the specific problems. Falter is the game's stagger meter. You build it up by hitting an enemy, and once it's full the enemy is stunned and open to an execution.

The core changes are the same across Remedy's notes and several outlets' reports:

  1. Most enemies get lower base health and a lower Falter requirement. The Dancer and Deserter, two of the game's Resonant bosses, get the same cuts.
  2. Maximum Aberrant Strength and maximum Ability Strength go up. Those increases will follow a curve, meaning that the more upgrades you have, the more damage you'll deal.
  3. Respeccing (reassigning your upgrades) gets cheaper: the update permanently reduces the cost of respeccing and increases the number of reset items that are in vendors across the game. MP1st also reports that the first Resonant boss, The Artist, now drops two Reset Items instead of one.
  4. Some English interface text is clearer. The hotfix also changes "Multiplier X percent" under Aberrant Strength to "Damage and Falter percent." The Build Power description now says it comes from unlocked Combat Abilities, Aberrant forms and upgrades, Talents, and Core Upgrades, where it previously said equipped Weapon Forms, Talents and Core Upgrades. Remedy says these text changes are English-only for now, with translations to follow.

The version number depends on your platform. Per MP1st, PS5 players will see this download as Control Resonant update 1.300.300, while those on Xbox will see the patch as version 1.3.3.0. The same report puts it at about 350 MB on PS5. Remedy itself calls it 1.3.3.

Remedy's Aberrant Strength Curve Changes More Than the Opening Hours

"Remedy makes the game easier" is fair shorthand, but it hides how the patch works. Cutting enemy health and Falter thresholds is a flat change that helps straight away, and that's what fixes the early game. The strength increase works differently. Because it follows a curve that gets steeper toward the top, the gains grow as you invest more upgrades. The more you've upgraded, the bigger the payoff.

That links the patch to the achievement list. Astral Potency asks you to reach Aberrant Strength 100, and Astral Adept asks you to max out any Aberrant Form. Both sit right on the systems Remedy just changed. The patch doesn't lower those targets. What it does is make the upgrade grind feel better along the way. As an inference: a player chasing those two achievements after 1.3.3 should hit harder at each step than a pre-patch player with the same upgrades, but the finish line is where it was.

The Build Power wording also matters for anyone planning a build. The old text suggested only equipped items counted, while the new text says the figure comes from everything you've unlocked. That changes how you'd read the number when choosing where to spend upgrades. Put together with cheaper respeccs, the message is that Remedy wants players to experiment with builds rather than lock one in.

It's also worth being clear about who went through the older version. Kotaku notes that the general reaction to this hotfix has been mostly positive, with many players suggesting that enemies having too much health was one of their biggest issues with the sequel. Game Informer, which reviewed the game before the patch, says early access players and reviewers, including us, had to endure a much harder game in the weeks before release. That's worth keeping in mind if you read reviews that complain about damage-sponge enemies. According to Kotaku, owners of the pricier pre-order edition could play from September 22, two days before general launch.

Assist Mode Lets Achievement Hunters Tune Control Resonant Without Penalty

Remedy's patch notes point players who want to go further to Assist Mode. Players can adjust individual parts of the experience, such as enemy aggression, incoming damage, or how quickly Dylan recovers his abilities from the Gameplay menu in the game's options. The sliders work in both directions. Gaming Bolt points out that if the patched game feels too easy, you can use Assist Mode to raise enemy health and damage again.

For achievement hunters, the key detail comes from TrueAchievements' earlier reporting on Remedy's pre-launch explanation: Assist Mode settings can be changed during play and don't disable Xbox achievements or PlayStation trophies. The options reportedly include enemy aggression, incoming and outgoing damage, power recovery and projectile speed. The more extreme settings go as far as immortality, one-hit kills and one-hit Falters.

That's generous, and it changes the calculation for completionists. Many games lock achievements behind difficulty settings or turn them off once assists are on. As reported, Control Resonant does neither. A player who only wants the 1,000G can switch on the extreme assists for the combat-based achievements. A player who wants the intended experience can leave everything at default and rely on Remedy's rebalanced baseline. The one real constraint on the list is the missable side-quest achievement, which Assist Mode can't help with.

Hotfix 1.3.3 Forced a Full Redownload for Some PC Players

The patch had one clear cost, and PC players paid it. Kotaku reports that some Steam users were unhappy that the hotfix made them reinstall a game they had already pre-loaded. Remedy confirmed the problem and apologised on social media, saying the update triggered certain platform mechanisms on PC, forcing players who had already downloaded the game to download it again, thereby causing you unnecessary inconvenience. The studio called it an oversight on our part and said it would try to prevent similar issues in future.

Remedy's statement refers only to PC and doesn't name a storefront. Kotaku's reporting points to Steam, and nothing so far indicates that Xbox PC app or Xbox console players had to download the whole game again. The patch itself is small; MP1st's roughly 350 MB figure is for PS5. For anyone who pre-loaded on Steam over a metered or slow connection, though, launch day may have meant downloading the full game twice.

What This Means for Control Resonant Players on Xbox and PC

If you're starting Control Resonant now, just make sure hotfix 1.3.3 (1.3.3.0 on Xbox) is installed before you play. There's no reason to stay on the launch version, and the patch mainly helps the early hours that reviewers found hardest going. Completionists can start without worrying about difficulty-locked achievements, but should keep the one reported missable in mind.

  • Check that your installed version shows 1.3.3.0 on Xbox, or 1.300.300 on PS5, so you get the reduced enemy health and Falter thresholds from the start.
  • Assist Mode is in the Gameplay section of the options menu and, as reported, doesn't disable Xbox achievements, so it's a safe way to handle the combat-heavy achievements.
  • If you're going for 1,000G, look up Be What You Want to Be before you get far into the side content, since it's the only achievement the TrueAchievements reviewer considers missable.
  • Try different builds freely after the patch, because respeccing now costs less and The Artist drops two Reset Items instead of one.
  • On Xbox Play Anywhere, achievements earned on an Xbox Series X|S and on a Windows PC through the Xbox app count toward the same list.
  • If you pre-loaded on Steam, expect the patch to trigger a full redownload; Remedy has acknowledged that as a PC-specific mistake.

Remedy rebalanced the game on day one rather than weeks later, so almost everyone playing Control Resonant gets the gentler opening, while players who want more challenge can dial it back up in Assist Mode. For Xbox players the practical takeaway is simple: the full 1,000G is available, the settings won't cost you achievements, and the only real risk is one side quest you'll want to look up before you pass it by. Remedy says localised versions of the updated interface text are still to come. Physical editions, due October 15 according to Instant Gaming, will be the next wave of new players to see the patched game.
