What changed in patch 0.6.0.5
Obsidian's announcement sorts the fixes by area. Here they are, with the wording kept close to the original.
World
- Holiday banners on park lamps weren't being taken down in January. That is fixed.
- An out-of-world gap under the donut near the Gnarly Bark Outpost is fixed.
Combat
- The Splinter Cannon wasn't chaining a charged shot when the trigger was held after firing. That is fixed.
Buggies, saves and teleporting
- A client's buggy interactions could disappear after the client died and the host saved and loaded. That is fixed.
- Saving while using a PTS could interrupt the teleport or send players back to their transit origin. That is fixed, and the fix includes co-op clients.
UI and visuals
- After crafting certain items with varying recipes, the UI would navigate back to the original recipe. That is fixed.
- Hidden helmets were still casting a shadow over the Founder's Pack skin. That is fixed.
Stability
- A hang on Xbox when the game is suspended while loading is fixed.
- A crash related to world streaming is fixed.
- A crash caused by the game running out of object memory is fixed.
Who should care
Co-op hosts and clients. Two of the fixes are about save and load behavior in multiplayer. If your group lost a client's buggy interactions after a death and a host reload, or got dragged back to a transit origin after saving mid-PTS, those cases are now covered. The patch notes don't explain what PTS stands for, so I'm keeping the game's own term.
Xbox players. Xbox players have seen a run of suspend-related fixes. The previous patch, 0.6.0.4 on October 28, fixed hangs on Xbox Series X when the game is suspended. This patch fixes a separate hang that happens when the game is suspended during loading. That suggests the suspend/resume path has been a recurring weak spot. That is my reading, not something Obsidian has said.
Anyone who has crashed. The two crash fixes are narrow: one for world streaming and one for running out of object memory. The notes don't say how often these crashes happened. They don't mention a workaround. They also don't claim that every crash or hang is gone. I would also avoid reading "object memory" as a hardware problem. The notes give no reason to think your RAM or VRAM is the cause.
Context in the 0.6.0 cycle
The Rot and Ruin update, patch 0.6.0, went live on October 20, 2026. Patch 0.6.0.4 followed on October 28. Patch 0.6.0.5 arrives a week later. That is a fast cadence, and it fits an early-access game still sorting out problems after a big update. The game is still in early access on Steam, according to its listing in GameDropDaily's Action genre directory. The 0.6.0.5 fixes are stability and polish work, not new content.
Platforms and how to get it
The fix list itself is clear. Platform availability is less so. The announcement says the patch is available, and the Xbox hang fix shows it applies to Xbox. The text I could verify doesn't list every platform. One third-party write-up says the patch is on PlayStation 5 as well. I couldn't confirm that from Obsidian's text, so treat it as unconfirmed. For 0.6.0.4, by contrast, Obsidian said the patch had released on all available platforms.
To get the update:
- On Steam, let the game update from your library, or restart Steam to prompt a check.
- On Xbox, make sure the game is set to update automatically, or check the Manage game and add-ons menu for pending updates.
- In co-op, make sure the host and every client are on the same build before you start a session.
The Splinter Cannon fix and the save/load fixes only take effect once everyone is patched. If you still run into issues, Obsidian asks players to report them through its Issue Tracker.
Bottom line
Patch 0.6.0.5 is a small, targeted fix for co-op saves, PTS teleporting, one Xbox loading hang and two crash scenarios. It is worth installing if any of those have bitten you. It makes no promise of broader performance gains.
