What was announced
Xbox Wire's showcase recap says Matt Mercer provides the voice of Mr. Magpie, the game's deeply unsettling host. GamingBolt reports that the announcement came with Mercer appearing at the end of the trailer alongside a puppet of Mr Magpie. The trailer also showed more gameplay, according to GamingBolt.
The Otaku's Study describes Mercer's contribution as the character's unsettling mumbles and blood-curdling noises. It also lists his recent credits, including Vincent Valentine in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Minsc in Baldur's Gate 3 and Vecna in Dead by Daylight.
Xbox, PC and Game Pass details
Xbox's own wording is the firmest source on platforms. The game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Game Pass in early 2027, and will support Xbox Play Anywhere.
- Timing: "Early 2027" is the only window given. GamingBolt says there is no release date beyond that window. A Spanish-language outlet, Martin Cid, adds that the Steam store page lists the launch as the first quarter of 2027. That is a store-page detail, not an Xbox commitment.
- Game Pass: Several outlets say the game arrives on Game Pass on day one. The sources don't name a subscription tier or a price.
- Play Anywhere: Xbox says that many showcase games will support Play Anywhere at launch, so you can play across console and PC at no additional cost. Mr Magpie is named in the recap as one of them.
- PC storefronts: Game Bastion reports PC availability via Steam and Microsoft Store. Xbox's recap only says "Xbox on PC", so treat the storefront detail as that outlet's reporting.
Platform lists differ between sources
Not every source lists the same platforms. Xbox Wire names only Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, which fits its Xbox-focused purpose. GamingBolt also lists only PC and Xbox Series X|S.
Other outlets report a wider launch. Games Press carries an announcement saying the game is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in early 2027, with Xbox Game Pass Day One and Xbox Play Anywhere support. The Otaku's Study says the same. The two are not in conflict: Xbox's recap simply doesn't mention other platforms. For Windows and Xbox readers, the confirmed Xbox and PC availability is what matters.
About the game
Xbox describes a sinister roguelike deckbuilder where you build your deck, push your luck, and combine powerful synergies. GamingBolt adds that players work up a corporate ladder through a seemingly harmless card game. It also flags the "JERRY" cards that players are told to avoid.
The Otaku's Study credits Giant Light Studios as developer and Miss Behaviour, part of Behaviour Interactive, together with Gambit Digital as publishers. Xbox's recap doesn't list these credits.
Games Press notes that a free demo is available now on Steam. That is the publisher's claim, and the demo is a PC-only way to try the game before launch.
What this means for Windows and Xbox players
- Subscribers: Day-one Game Pass is a convenience for subscribers, but the tier and any platform limits aren't specified. Check Xbox's listing closer to launch.
- Console and PC players: Play Anywhere should mean one purchase works on both Xbox console and Windows PC. Xbox hasn't detailed save sync or account requirements for this specific game.
- Schedules: A WindowsForum roundup of the showcase's Game Pass additions advises treating the 2027 dates as rough. That is sensible for indie releases, which often slip.
Bottom line: The confirmed facts are Mercer's casting, the early 2027 window, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC availability, day-one Game Pass, and Play Anywhere support. A price, an exact date and a Game Pass tier have not been announced.
