There is an important qualification, however: Microsoft’s accessible support documentation does not yet corroborate mobile availability. Its “Follow a meeting in Outlook” guidance still limits the response option to new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. That makes this a roadmap-listed mobile update—not proof that every iPhone or Android user can select it today.
What the mobile roadmap establishes
The roadmap record identifies both mobile platforms and a general-availability release ring. Its June 2026 date should not be confused with a new October launch announcement: it is the availability month recorded for the feature.
The publicly retrieved roadmap page did not expose item 557347’s individual details, so its launched status and platform scope remain attributable to the roadmap record rather than independently confirmed through that page. Microsoft also cautions that roadmap dates are estimates and that entries may be removed after general availability, cancellation, or postponement.
The documentation gap does not establish a failed rollout or explain why the sources differ. Nor does it justify inventing a minimum mobile app version or a deployment schedule.
What Follow means on Windows and the web
Microsoft Support documents these mechanics for the existing Windows/web experience, not as verified mobile behavior:
- Follow requires a meeting with at least two participants and requested responses.
- The organizer receives the response and a reminder to record the Teams meeting and take collaborative notes; the recording reminder depends on Teams recording policy.
- The attendee’s calendar remains free, with meeting and chat access retained.
- Recordings and transcripts that were created can be accessed through meeting recap.
In practical terms, this separates “I cannot attend” from “I do not need the outcome.” But a reminder is not a recording guarantee: someone still needs to ensure useful meeting material is available.
A compatibility wrinkle for organizers
Microsoft’s current guidance says organizers using classic Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac, or Outlook mobile see a Follow response as Tentative, although the response email identifies the attendee’s intent.
For mixed-client teams, the sensible precaution is to read the response email before counting that person as a possible attendee. A calendar label alone may not tell the whole story.
What mobile users should check
Microsoft’s “Outlook for iOS and Android Quick Start” documents opening a meeting invitation and tapping RSVP, with Accept, Tentative, and Decline as the listed choices. It does not list Follow. That omission is a documentation limitation, not proof that the feature is absent from every account or app build.
To assess your own availability, inspect the response choices offered for your meeting invitation. If Follow is absent, do not assume the app is broken or that reinstalling it will help. For an important meeting, explicitly tell the organizer that you cannot attend and request notes or a recording.
The bottom line: Outlook’s roadmap lists Follow for mobile as launched, but the support guidance reviewed still describes Windows and web availability. The feature’s purpose is useful; its presence and exact behavior on your mobile account should be confirmed before relying on it.
