A return after a planned retirement
This is not a new scheduling feature appearing out of nowhere. In a Microsoft 365 Message Center notice published June 16, 2026, Microsoft said it would remove Send Availability from the Outlook mobile compose experience, beginning in mid-July and expecting to finish by late July. The notice said users could still consult their calendars and type available times into an email; calendar functionality itself was not being removed. The notice is preserved in the Microsoft 365 Message Center Archive as MC1393802.
Microsoft’s Outlook mobile release notes offer another useful reference point: a September 2024 Android update described Send Availability as an existing action in the email compose toolbar. The newly planned return is therefore about restoring a familiar way to share times from a draft, not introducing the concept of availability sharing to Outlook mobile. Those older release notes do not establish what the restored interface will look like.
What the roadmap does—and does not—promise
The new entry names both iOS and Android, but calls out the keyboard and VoiceOver improvement specifically for iOS. It does not identify which controls will gain better access, describe an equivalent Android change, specify a minimum app version, or announce a new admin setting. Nor does it explain why Microsoft changed direction.
Its cloud scope is Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant). That distinction matters: the earlier retirement notice also named GCC and GCC High, but the return entry does not promise those government environments the same October timetable.
Most importantly, the item remains In development. Microsoft’s roadmap guidance distinguishes that status from Rolling out, when production deployment begins, and Launched, when deployment is complete. October is a planning date, not proof that the option has reappeared on every phone.
For IT teams, the practical move is modest: keep the manual-calendar workaround in helpdesk guidance for now, then confirm the option in your organization’s iOS and Android Outlook apps when rollout begins. If users ask where Send Availability has gone—or when it will return—the answer should reflect the two separate announcements, not assume that a roadmap date has already put the button back.
