A laptop video conference is shown beside a cloud analytics dashboard connecting devices and global networks.
panagenda has extended its TrueDEM monitoring platform so it can show what happens inside a Microsoft Teams call on a Mac. Technology Record reported the release on 2 October 2026. This is a vendor capability, not a Microsoft Teams feature. For Teams administrators who run mixed Mac and Windows fleets, it closes a gap that made Mac call problems harder to diagnose than Windows ones.

What changed

TrueDEM is a digital experience monitoring product that gives IT teams real-time visibility into how employees experience Microsoft 365 and Teams, from the device and local network through to Microsoft's cloud. It combines endpoint telemetry from a lightweight agent with Microsoft's cloud-side metrics, including Call Quality Dashboard (CQD) data.

The Mac agent already reported device performance and network telemetry. The new agent adds audio, video and screen-sharing performance data while calls are in progress. According to Technology Record, panagenda says it covers every call a user makes, as the existing Windows agent does.

Stefan Fried, senior program manager for TrueDEM at panagenda, put the gap this way. Administrators could see device and network behaviour on a Mac but not what was happening inside the call. A Teams issue on macOS was therefore harder to pinpoint than the same issue on Windows.

panagenda's own TrueDEM release notes back this up. They list "full real-time call quality support for macOS" and say any user with the TrueDEM macOS agent now gets full call-quality details. The notes also describe a Call Quality Debug page with a call timeline. For each participant it shows whether issues occurred. For participants running the agent, it also shows when an issue happened and what type it was. The notes label the entry "Week 37" but print no calendar date, so I won't give a precise one.

How panagenda says it differs from Microsoft's tools

panagenda says TrueDEM extends Microsoft's monitoring rather than replacing it. Its claims, as reported:

  • Microsoft's Real-Time Analytics covers scheduled meetings and Meet Now sessions. TrueDEM adds 1:1, group and PSTN calls, collected automatically while the call runs.
  • Microsoft's post-call view aggregates telemetry into averages and maxima. TrueDEM keeps a moment-by-moment timeline, so administrators can see when a call degraded and what the device and network were doing at that point.

Where Microsoft's documentation adds nuance

These are vendor claims, and Microsoft's current documentation is broader than the comparison implies.

  • The Teams admin center troubleshooting experience applies to conferences and calls across Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and the web. Its Completed meetings list supports peer-to-peer and PSTN calls, not just meetings.
  • In-progress data is only for meetings and events. Per Microsoft's documentation, in-progress meeting information updates every minute.
  • Once a meeting ends, telemetry can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to process. After that, session telemetry is shown as averages and maximums.
  • Granular real-time telemetry depends on licensing. Users with Teams Premium or Teams Rooms Pro keep it for seven days after the meeting. For everyone else it is kept only for the meeting itself. Aggregated telemetry is available for 30 days.

So "Microsoft can't see 1:1 or PSTN calls" would be wrong. The fairer distinction is live, endpoint-enhanced detail for calls where the agent is installed versus Microsoft-side records with different timing and granularity. panagenda's release notes say the same thing: monitored calls appear while ongoing, and calls on unmonitored devices appear once CQD data arrives.

Practical takeaways for admins

  • Who benefits: organizations with significant Mac use that already run, or are weighing, TrueDEM. A Mac Teams complaint can now be examined with the same call-level data as a Windows one.
  • Agent required: live data depends on the TrueDEM agent being on the Mac.
  • Edition: panagenda's product page says the Advanced edition includes the deep Teams call analytics. It does not say whether the new macOS feature needs that edition, so confirm with the vendor.
  • Deployment: panagenda says the Manager can be pushed through Intune, SCCM, Group Policy or other tools, and that the agent runs in user context without admin rights. These are general product statements, not specific to this release.
  • Root cause: more data does not prove a cause. Microsoft's own tools treat network, device and media as separate problem areas and suggest combining user-level troubleshooting with CQD trend analysis.

What isn't known

Neither the report nor panagenda's release notes give any of the following for the macOS capability:

  • Minimum macOS or agent versions
  • Pricing or licensing entitlement
  • Telemetry retention terms
  • Privacy details
  • A general-availability statement
  • Which call types are supported live on Mac

Ask panagenda for these before planning a rollout.

Bottom line

The change is useful but narrow. It brings live in-call media data to Mac endpoints in a third-party monitoring product, and panagenda's primary release notes support it. The comparison with Microsoft's tooling is panagenda's framing, and Microsoft's admin center covers more than that framing suggests. Mixed-fleet shops should judge it against what their Teams admin center and CQD workflow already provide.
