What's Arriving on October 29
Microsoft's Xbox Wire roundup, published October 20 by Megan Spurr, Senior Community Lead for Xbox Game Pass, is the official source for the details below. Trade coverage agrees that this is the busiest single date in the second October wave. October's second wave drops four of its seven confirmed titles on one day. That makes "biggest day" a count-based description, not an official Xbox label. Xbox doesn't use the phrase.
| Game | Platforms | Plans |
|---|---|---|
| Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC | Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass |
| Mouthwashing | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, PC | Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass |
| Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted | Cloud, Console, PC | Ultimate, PC Game Pass |
| Terrible Lizards | Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC | Ultimate, PC Game Pass |
The Premium column is the one to check. Two of the four titles, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted and Terrible Lizards, are listed only for Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Premium subscribers get the other two.
The Four Games
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Xbox describes it as a remake that follows Cloud Strife and his companions through Midgar, with expanded storytelling and a combat system mixing real-time action with strategic commands. Xbox's own text doesn't spell out what the package contains. Other outlets say Intergrade is an enhanced edition that includes the base game and an additional episode starring Yuffie Kisaragi. That matches the Episode INTERmission DLC that ScreenRant mentions.
This isn't a new game on Xbox. The Xbox Store lists a January 22, 2026 release date, optimized for Xbox Series X|S. The Game Pass listing gives existing owners no new content. It gives subscribers a way to play without buying.
ScreenRant calls it a "90-hour RPG." Xbox's roundup gives no playtime figure, so treat that number as the outlet's estimate.
Mouthwashing. The Xbox Wire entry says it was a late addition to the list, announced during the ID@Xbox x IGN October 2026 Showcase. Xbox's roundup describes a psychological horror game developed by Wrong Organ and published by Critical Reflex, set aboard the stranded spacecraft Tulpar. The roundup's platform list includes the "Handheld" designation. Xbox's footnote says that label marks games optimized for handheld play.
Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted. This is the HD return of the original tower-defense game. Xbox says EA Play members can revisit it. AllKeyShop also notes the game arrives through EA Play. The official tier list is Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with no Premium. If you're on Premium, don't plan around this one.
Terrible Lizards. Xbox labels this a day-one Game Pass release. It calls the game a horror parkour title and the debut of WDR Studios, which was founded by the creators behind JTMusic. Xbox says players escape threats through movement instead of fighting back. ScreenRant describes it as first-person survival horror, but Xbox's own description emphasizes parkour. Because the game hasn't launched, there are no reviews yet. ScreenRant says a free Steam demo exists. That is the outlet's claim, and I haven't verified it.
Departures: Nine Games, Not "Almost a Dozen"
ScreenRant says almost a dozen games leave on October 31. Xbox's list for that date has nine:
- Day of the Tentacle Remastered
- Dead Static Drive
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Full Throttle Remastered
- Grim Fandango Remastered
- Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
- Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
- Wartales
- Wildgate
All nine are listed for Cloud, console and PC. The "almost a dozen" figure likely comes from counting Xbox's separate November 10 departures. Eleven games leave between October 31 and November 10 once both versions of Football Manager 26 are counted. Xbox lists Football Manager 26 (PC) and Football Manager 26 – Console Edition as leaving November 10, not October 31.
Xbox also encourages subscribers to buy departing games at a discount before they leave. That's its pitch, so weigh it against your own backlog.
What to Do Before Thursday
- Check which plan you have. Premium covers Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Mouthwashing. Ultimate and PC Game Pass cover all four.
- Don't count on Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted under Premium. The official list gives it to Ultimate and PC Game Pass only. The EA Play connection is Xbox's own wording.
- Use the Play Next List. If you plan to play the departing games before October 31, you have days, not weeks.
- Cloud play is listed for all four. Handheld optimization is flagged only for Mouthwashing.
Context
October 29 also isn't the only date that matters this week. Xbox's roundup puts The Séance of Blake Manor on October 27 for Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass. It isn't one of the four October 29 titles. Calling October 29 the best day is a judgment, not a fact. The lineup is varied: an RPG, a psychological horror game, a tower-defense remaster and a parkour horror debut. Whether it beats the month's other releases is a matter of taste.
ScreenRant's evaluative claims, such as "10/10 horror masterpiece," "immensely popular RPG" and the review quotes, come from that outlet's opinions and reviews. Treat them as opinion. Microsoft's official announcement doesn't make those claims.
