The quick answer: one Game Pass arrival, the rest are purchases
Pure Xbox says Dodo Duckie arrives October 22 on Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass, on cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Other coverage of Microsoft's second October Game Pass wave agrees. TrueAchievements lists Dodo Duckie on October 22 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC under those same three tiers.
Dodo Duckie is not a brand-new game. One key-reseller blog says it came out in July, so today is its subscription debut, not its first launch. That is a single retailer's claim, and I couldn't confirm it independently.
The headline title is different. The Xbox Store lists Final Fantasy Resonance with this notice: game purchase required for cloud play. Strictly, that line comes from the store listing in the research packet, not from the Game Pass coverage above. Xbox does not list the game as a Game Pass arrival.
Final Fantasy Resonance: what's confirmed
Xbox Wire's weekly roundup, published October 16, lists the game at $49.99 for October 22 with Xbox Play Anywhere. The Xbox Store page adds the following:
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. It is optimized for Series X|S.
- Capabilities: 4K Ultra HD, single-player, 60 fps or higher, console keyboard and mouse support, and PC gamepad support.
- Rating: ESRB Everyone 10+, for fantasy violence, suggestive themes, alcohol reference and language.
- Editions: The standard edition is $49.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition is $59.99, and the Digital Deluxe Upgrade add-on is $14.99.
- Languages: Eight supported languages.
The publisher's description calls it the first Final Fantasy in the HD-2D lineup. It promises pixel-art characters with pixelized 3D models and dynamic camera angles. Combat is turn-based. You exploit enemy weaknesses to stagger foes, break their defenses and gain extra turns. "Visions" are echoes of familiar Final Fantasy characters who join your party.
Side content includes Gilgamesh, a Colosseum, the Chamber of Arms and a fight with Ultima Weapon. All of this is store copy, so don't read it as a review. Pure Xbox calls the game "stellar," but that is the author's opinion, not a measured assessment.
Purchase bonuses and deadlines
- Pre-order bonus: The Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack is only for customers who pre-ordered. It is not available to people who buy after release.
- Early purchase bonus: The Squire Kickstart Pack contains a Blessed Cuirass and a Mist Ether. It applies to purchases made by November 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time.
- Claiming: Both packs are collected from the postbox in front of the inn in Mitra. You get access after reaching an unspecified point in the game.
If you are undecided, the November 5 cutoff is the only real deadline here.
The rest of the October 22 slate
Xbox Wire's roundup lists the following October 22 launches. Prices are as displayed on the U.S. listing, and Xbox says release dates are subject to change.
| Game | Price shown | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dreadway | $6.99 | Online co-op survival horror for up to four players, with crafting and proximity voice chat |
| Entwined: Strings of Deception | Not shown | Detective game with Smart Delivery |
| Moadra | Not shown | Exploration game on Protea VI, with Xbox Play Anywhere |
| Mortal Sin | $24.99, shown at $19.99 | Procedurally generated action game with unlockable classes |
| Spray Trace | $4.99, shown at $3.99 | Listed for Xbox One; tile-painting puzzle |
| Tidy Up the Flower Shop | Not shown | Flower-sorting game with Xbox Play Anywhere |
| Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest | $29.99 | Pre-order label in the roundup; turn-based battles and clan quests |
Pure Xbox also lists Arcade Archives 2 ACE DRIVER VICTORY LAP, and Galeco Sports Collection for console and PC. Pure Xbox's description says the collection has five 1990s arcade games from Gaelco. Its headline text spells the name "Galeco" while the description says "Gaelco," so check the store spelling before you search. I could not verify the official spelling.
Counting the games
The Pure Xbox list has nine entries once you include Dodo Duckie. Xbox Wire's list for the day has Final Fantasy Resonance, Dreadway, Entwined, Moadra, Mortal Sin, Spray Trace, Tidy Up the Flower Shop and Warrior Cats. Neither list establishes a tenth title, and I won't guess at one. Large digital storefronts often add titles during the day, so a count can drift.
Practical notes for Xbox and PC players
- Play Anywhere: Several games here, including Final Fantasy Resonance, Moadra and Tidy Up the Flower Shop, are flagged Xbox Play Anywhere on Xbox Wire. One purchase covers both console and Windows PC, but check the store page for your platform.
- Game Pass tiers: Dodo Duckie is on Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass. Console-only Game Pass Essential is not listed.
- Timing: Releases roll out through the day, and the announcements give no exact launch time. Don't expect every title to appear in every region at once.
- Sales: Mortal Sin and Spray Trace show discounted prices in the roundup. Those are U.S. listings and may differ elsewhere or change.
- Affiliate links: Pure Xbox discloses that some of its external links are affiliate links. Store details here come from Xbox's own pages where possible.
Bottom line
Today's real news is one Game Pass addition, Dodo Duckie, plus a paid Square Enix release, Final Fantasy Resonance, on Series X|S, PC and cloud. A handful of smaller indie titles round out the day. The "10 games" count in Pure Xbox's headline doesn't match its own list.
