It seems to be that Windows Explorer is screwed.:eek::eek:
I had my laptop and I realised GTA: Vice City was screwing up a bit. It was a modded version (Killer Vip 1.3?) Anyway my computer was Not responding on the most simplest of tasks. Such as opening a folder. I then tried to make...

Firstly, great forum. I regret that my first post is a problem.
I have just made a clean install of Windows 7 and everything went fine. I made a clean install from inside the W7 RC on a new SATA hard disk with a genuine Windows & Home Premium Disk. Installation only took about 30 minutes...
Hi, after successfully installing windows 7 (my first windows install since XP, after which I moved to Ubuntu) and doing the initial set-up etc., installing my own anti virus software and MS Office etc, I thought it was time to let it update itself.
however, every time I tell it to update...
I have two machines, desktop and laptop, both running Windows 7 Build 7600 (64-bit and 32-bit respectively) that just started getting the "Code 80070005" message when running Windows Update. I have seen many others with this issue (apparently it used to be an issue with Vista) but it's...
Did an upgrade install of Win 7 over my Vista SP2. All seems well except that my Gadgets: a) disappear after a reboot and b) "ghost" if I drag one onto the desktop (one gadget will work the other does nothing) and c) the Gadgets will not "configure" - can't change opacity, etc. Have tried the...

Ok, I have found many examples of this but every solution I have read doesn't work for me, I'll start at the top in what steps I have taken to the current situation.
On installing Windows 7 it worked flawlessly, proceeded to install apps etc, that evening I turned off.
On login the next day no...

I've just installed the new Windows 7 and am having problems with some .wav files not playing. The ones in question are information announcements (ie that anti-virus protection has updated) that are set up by non-Microsoft programs. The one I noticed first was when the Avast ant-virus protection...
Ccleaner gets recommended a lot and I've used it for quite a while with no problems until now. I was trying a different firewall and returned to the old one and ran the clean portion of Ccleanerof ver 2.23.999 after finishing. My PC is dual boot Vista/ Windows 7. When I booted into Windows 7...

Hi all . I am an avid video gamer & shut down my anti virus when playing online. This is commonly done. With XP , I was able to shut down Avast in task manager. With Windows 7 it gives me message of Access is Denied, but I AM the Administrator. How can I fix this? :frown:
I am having serious lag on my W7.

I have a Dual Core 2 at 3.0 mhz.

Anyone have any idea?
A large amount of you folks on here seem to have a supernatural ability to know that the rest of the population can only speculate about. Do any of you well connected folks like drew or reghackr or anyone have an idea of when Microsoft Security Essentials is intended to be made available i've...

Why is that lately, the feature that supports rotating wallpapers disables after reboot? What i mean is, say i got my destination folder set to the root of 'My Pictures', and after reboot, no longer in my right click menu is the option to go to next desktop wallpaper, and at the same time, going...
OK. So this will be a very long story so get ready. I had Win7 dual-booted with Vista Ultimate. Please note that them two operating systems did come with the computer. I had to delete my Vista partition because it had a virus. So now I am left with Win7. But now this has a virus. When my comp...
