I don't have a problem accounting for the...

I've come across a weird problem that I'd like to share with you: under certain circumstances, Diskpart and some other programs don't report the correct capacity of a hard disk.
The disk in question is a new 4 TB, or 3.64 TiB (3726 GiB), Seagate BarraCuda, initalized as a GPT...

A surface test of my hard disk with some partition tools showed one or more bad sectors.
How can I find out exactly which of my files allocated space these bad sectors in the past?
....and which are now corrupted?
I have heard that a "chkdsk" run could repair/exclude these bad sectors...

New to forum. Outta the blue (no pun intended), laptop encounters BSoD.
Quick aside on features:
HP Elitebook 6930p, runs on Windows Vista.
Older computer, purchased in '09, I imagine the driver has since been updated but not confident.

Assume I want to check the partition NTFS integrity of a Win 7 system from a BootCD with WinXP.
Is this possible?
Or is the WinXP chkdsk utility outdated and NOT usable for Win 7 NTFS systems?
