As a truly personal digital assistant, Cortana is there to help people get things done. When we set out to design Cortana, we talked to real world personal assistants and learned that they do a few things really well, and rely on a network of experts for everything else.

I have turned off my notifications and still get a reminder that my computer would restart at such and such a time to install updates. It seems they appear every couple of hours. How do I stop that.
The computer never restarts unless I do it manually. Either way I keep getting these annoying...
Hi
This is really for Windows Phone, but some of the stuff works on the PC.

I was able to say things like "Hey Cortana remind my to call Paul." She replied "Sure Thing, when do you want to call Paul." I said 2 PM, and she...
Hello!
I’m Link Removed, the Group Program Manager for Cortana and Search on the Windows PC, Phone and Tablet Group. Over the past few months, we’ve shared details about some of the features we think you’ll love in Windows 10 like Continuum, universal apps and of course Cortana. I’m proud to...
For weeks, I've been plagued with flaky performance by Outlook 2007, the worst of which was it crashing when I close a calendar reminder. This is apparently a not-uncommon problem and there are plenty of recommendations online for things to check. None of those solved my problem. I recently...

You know it's a drag one hesitates when it's to say something good. Seems hard to do w/ such worthy contributions as "fanboy" & "evangelist", as if curse words or slander, maligning, not worthy by motivation to be given credence, scoffed @ cus of presumed MS driven bias, but, anyway, lol

Patch Tuesday Reminder:
Today is Patch Tuesday. Please, keep your machines properly protected & make sure the Updates get put in or have been put in for July.
Regards,
Drew
Here, just tossing this out, for no more reason than just for shits n giggles.
I revamped, tidied, the Taskbar, just mucking about; normally, it Auto-hides. And, this is w/out (any) Gadgets or Sticky Notes showing. Picture is arbitrary. I may leave it like this, try it out, for a while...
No Beta OS should be installed except, as follows:
1. On a spare machine
2. Virtually
3. As a dual-boot.
Never as an Upgrade or replacement to an existing, current, non-beta OS. Never on a production machine.
Nor, BTW, can one move from 1 Beta of an OS to the next or from Beta to...
Just a wee reminder... today, like the 2nd Tues. of every month, is 'Patch Tuesday'. Even if on 'Auto', always a Best Practice to make sure any & all (new) Updates are put in or get put in your computers.
Cheers,
Drew
I am looking for some sort of daily reminder that is in the computer where I can input the data when I want and it will alert me when the day arrives about appointments or bills to pay etc. It seems such an obvious and simple thing that I would have thought it would be in win 7 somewhere. If so...
I do not understand MS making Vista's Windows Calendar unavailable in Windows7. Live only provides for an email notification, where Windows Calendar reminded me at various time/date setable stages (eg. weeks to hours) with pop-up notifications on my desktop, as I do not continuously keep mail on...

I was able to get Windows Mail to work on Windows 7 and created a folder for Windows Calendar, put the files there but the program will not execute from Windows Mail. It will run on it's own, but the reminders won't alert me and like I said, it won't run when I click the icon inside Windows...
The real-time Internet is crowding out the future and the past. Here's what to do about it.
Search the Internet for a time machine and you may end up with an empty wallet and painful injuries, if the movie Napoleon Dynamite is accurate.
I don't recommend buying a time machine on eBay. But...

Hi All
How do I stop win 7 from showing me the same updates which I dont need to install - like 34 language packs ? I get a red cross flag for not updating those updates ? In win xp, if you did not want an update, that was a hidden update and you were not reminded for it ever again. Can I not...
I was annoyed to find after upgrading to 7 that the calendar from Vista no longer existed. I used this a lot and relied on it to aid my geriatric memory.
I searched about but could find no info as to how this could be done in Windows 7 so that reminders still worked.
Therefore I have worked it...
