Windows 7 Audio Mid Recorder playback audio sounds thin and fraily

Windows 7 Poor Sound Quality
Conexant AC-97 laptop audio is screwing up. It sounds like a CD that skips CONSTANTLY. Sometimes the sound starts normally and then gradually starts to screw up. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers. Does anyone have any ideas?- kstarfire
