Ok, I found a Visual Basic v6.0 install hidden in my cd's, I know it's most likely now compatible with Windows 7, but I went ahead and installed it, to find out I was missing some files, I then downloaded a fix that finds missing areas on my system, I ran the program, with it not fixing...
For many months now, in fact since I installed windows 7 last year.
On numerous occasions I get these sort of symbols (as above) embedded in emails or webpages.
Any suggestions on how to get sort the problem out would be welcome.

My browser has randomly started to display most text in italic. Someone said to delete some fonts and reinstall them, but when I try it, it says the fonts are protected. Could someone please help me with this?
EDIT: Solved by downloading and reinstalling the Arial font.
