Windows 8 Windows8 not deciphering text

When I use certain sites,the text is all jumbled similar to how some files are shown before running them through Adobe Reader.I have never had this problem on Windows7 or iMac.Is there a reason the text is being displayed this way and how can I stop it happening?
Also on Facebook,all the settings have now been changed,is this normal?

Hi,

If your using IE10 as your browser then it could be that your viewing pages which are not compatible with the new browser...yet. If this is the case then look in the address bar of the browser on the extreme right hand side. You'll see a little rectangle split in two, click that and it'll put the browser into compatibility mode and display the page correctly. (see screenshot)



As for Facebook, which settings do you refer?
