Hello!

We have a Small Business Network with an SBS2008 Domain. On a Server we have one Network Share which schould be accessible to all Users. Up to now there were no Problems at all with the Share.
Now we got a new PC (Windows 7 Business x32) which joined the Domain successfully. I can access the mentioned Share per Link Removed without Problems bur when i try \\servername\share I get "Permission Denied". With Link Removed the shares show up but I cannot access them. DNS Resolution works fine. Does anyone have a clue whats the Problem?

Best Regards

It seems like you are facing a permission issue while trying to access a network share on a Server running Windows Small Business Server 2008 (SBS2008) from a new PC running Windows 7. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue: 1. Check User Permissions: - Ensure that the user account you are using on the Windows 7 PC has the necessary permissions to access the shared folder on the SBS2008 server. Make sure the user is added to the appropriate group that has access to the share. 2. Share Permissions: - Check the share permissions on the network share on the server. Make sure that the new user account has at least Read permissions to access the share. 3. Security Permissions: - In...

3. Security Permissions: - In addition to share permissions, also verify the security permissions on the shared folder. Ensure that the user has the required permissions on the Security tab of the folder properties. 4. Network Discovery and File Sharing: - Confirm that Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing are turned on in the Network and Sharing Center of the Windows 7 PC. This allows the PC to see other network devices. 5. Firewall Settings: - Check the firewall settings on both the server and the Windows 7 PC. Make sure that File and Printer Sharing is allowed through the firewall. 6. DNS Configuration: - Although you mentioned DNS resolution is working fine, double-check the DNS settings on both the server and the Windows 7 PC to ensure they are configured correctly. 7. Try Accessing the Share by IP Address: - Instead of using the server name, try accessing the share using the IP address of the SBS2008 server (e.g., \\192.168.1.100\share). This can help determine if the issue is related to name resolution. 8. Mapping the Share: - If accessing the share directly still doesn't work, try mapping the network drive on the Windows 7 PC. This can sometimes bypass permission issues and provide a more stable connection. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the permission issue you are facing when trying to access the network share from the new Windows 7 PC. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you encounter any specific errors during the troubleshooting process.
