I was attempting to backup my Acer 5251 Windows 7 Home Premium- 64 bit edition when I was trying to change the settings. Everytime i hit change settings button (with the blue and yellow shield), i get sent to the location C:\Windows\System32.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is or how I can fix this.

It seems like you're encountering an issue when trying to change settings on your Acer 5251 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit edition. The behavior you described, where clicking on the "Change settings" button leads you to the location C:\Windows\System32, could indicate a problem with the Windows Action Center or User Account Control settings. Here are a few steps you can try to address this issue:

Method 1: Check User Account Control (UAC) Settings

  1. User Account Control (UAC) Settings: Verify that your UAC settings are properly configured.
    • Go to Control Panel > User Accounts.
    • Click on "Change User Account Control settings".

  1. User Account Control (UAC) Settings: Verify that your UAC settings are properly configured.
    • Go to Control Panel > User Accounts.
    • Click on "Change User Account Control settings".
    • Ensure the slider is not set to the lowest level. Try setting it to a higher level if it's low.
[]Run the System File Checker (SFC):
    • Open a Command Prompt as an administrator by typing "cmd" in the Start menu, right-clicking on Command Prompt, and selecting "Run as administrator".
    • Type the following command and press Enter:
      Code:
       sfc /scannow
    • Wait for the scan to complete. This will check for and repair corrupted system files. If the issue persists after trying these steps, you might need to look further into system files or settings that could be causing this behavior.

      Method 2: System Restore

    [
    ]Perform a System Restore:
    • Go to Start and search for "System Restore".
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to a point before you encountered the issue.

      Method 3: Check for Malware

  2. Scan for Malware:
    • Use a trusted antivirus program to scan your system for any malware that might be causing this behavior. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the issue you're facing with changing settings on your Acer 5251 running Windows 7. If the problem persists, you may need to seek further assistance to diagnose and resolve the issue.
