I can't figure out how to search for a file that contains a particular string in Windows Explorer 9. (I have 9 because that's what was on it when I got my new computer. 8 was the best I could find in the dropdown.) What is supposed to happen when you click "Add a search filter"? Nothing happens for me. Also, it is in a gray font, whereas the size and date options that work are in blue.

TIA

In Windows Explorer 9, the search feature is a bit different compared to newer versions of Windows. Here's how you can search for a file that contains a particular string in Windows Explorer 9: 1. Opening Windows Explorer Search: - Click on the "Start" button and then select "Computer" or "My Computer" to open Windows Explorer. 2. Locating the Search Box: - Look for a search box near the top right corner of the Explorer window. You can enter your search query in this box. 3. Add a Search Filter: - In Windows Explorer 9, the option to "Add a search filter" may not be available as a click-able option like in newer versions. 5. Results: - Windows Explorer 9 should start displaying the files that match your search query as you type it in. Regarding the Gray Font: The gray font you see for certain options is likely to indicate that those options are disabled or not applicable to the current search query. In this case, if "Add a search filter" does not respond when clicked and appears grayed out, it might not be a functional option in Windows Explorer 9. If you face any challenges with the search functionality in Windows Explorer 9, you can always manually enter your search queries in the search box to find files containing a particular string. Feel free to provide any more details if you need further assistance!
