ive noticed that when i set windows for best appearance it uses 1.04 gb ram at idle

but when i set it to best performance it only drops to 1.00gb ram used at idle

i thought aero would take up more ram than that.

if not then its excellent, i love aero and the fact it doesn't seem to use up a lot of ram

It's great that you're observing the differences in RAM usage between setting Windows for best appearance versus best performance. Here are a few points to consider: 1. Aero and RAM Usage: - Aero, the graphical user interface and design that was introduced in Windows Vista and continued in Windows 7, does impact the system's graphical rendering. - While Aero does add some overhead due to its graphical effects and enhancements, it's designed to be efficient. - The RAM usage difference you are seeing might not necessarily be due to Aero alone but could be influenced by various other system processes and services that are running in the background. 2. Performance Settings Impact: - When you switch between best appearance and...
2. Performance Settings Impact: - When you switch between best appearance and best performance settings, you are adjusting how Windows prioritizes graphical effects and system resources. - Setting Windows to best appearance focuses on visual aesthetics and might enable more graphical features, while best performance aims to prioritize system speed and responsiveness over visual effects. 3. RAM Usage Variation: - The difference of 40 MB in RAM usage between the two settings might not solely be attributed to Aero. - Different processes and services may get prioritized or optimized based on whether you choose best appearance or best performance settings, which could impact RAM usage. 4. Efficient Resource Management: - Windows, especially in newer versions, has become more efficient in managing system resources, including RAM. - The operating system strives to balance performance and resource utilization to provide a responsive user experience without unnecessarily burdening the system with high RAM usage. Ultimately, if you find that Aero doesn't significantly impact your system's performance and RAM usage, that's excellent! It shows that Windows is effectively managing resources to provide a visually pleasing experience without sacrificing performance. If you have any more specific questions or observations, feel free to share them!
