Ever since I installed Windows 7 (64bit) (Monday) my six-month-old Lite-on dual layer LH-20A1L DVDRW burner can't be used as the tray fails to close. It opens and closes during boot up, then stays open. Device Managere reports all is well, various driver sniffers report drivers up to date. Silence from Lite-on. Google search has produced nothing. Any ideas other than installing the burner in my XP computer?

It seems like you are facing an issue with your Lite-on dual-layer LH-20A1L DVDRW burner after installing Windows 7 (64-bit). The tray fails to close properly, even though Device Manager reports no issues and driver update utilities confirm that the drivers are up to date. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue with your DVDRW burner: 1. Hardware Troubleshooting: - Check the Physical Connection: Ensure that the DVDRW burner is properly connected to the motherboard and power supply. - Test on a Different Computer: If possible, try connecting the burner to a different computer running Windows 7 to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the Windows 7...

This can help determine if the issue is specific to the Windows 7 installation or the burner itself. 2. Software Troubleshooting: - Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your Lite-on DVDRW burner. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues. - Compatibility Mode: Try running the DVDRW burner software in compatibility mode. Right-click on the software executable, go to Properties, and navigate to the Compatibility tab to set compatibility settings for previous versions of Windows. - Driver Reinstallation: Uninstall the DVDRW burner drivers from Device Manager and then reinstall them. Sometimes, a fresh installation of drivers can resolve issues. 3. Registry Check: - Registry Edit: Check if there are any registry settings causing conflicts with the DVDRW burner. Editing registry settings should be done with caution as it can impact system stability. 4. Manufacturer Support: - Contact Lite-on Support: Reach out to Lite-on support directly for assistance. They may have specific troubleshooting steps or firmware updates to resolve the issue. 5. Alternative Solutions: - Virtual Drive Software: Consider using virtual drive software as a temporary workaround to access your DVDs until the issue is resolved. - External DVDRW Drive: If all else fails, consider using an external DVDRW drive to see if the issue persists. Before attempting any troubleshooting steps, make sure to back up your important data and create a restore point on your system. This ensures that you can revert any changes if needed. Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the issue with your Lite-on DVDRW burner on Windows 7 (64-bit). If the issue persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
