Anyone here a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)?

MCP means you passed at least one Microsoft certification exam.

If there are any people who are MCPs, please reply in this thread. The reason I ask is because I would like to associate with you in the Microsoft Partner Program.

You are confused. If you pass one Microsoft exam you receive a certification as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). This is a communication error on our end. You are talking about MCP as Microsoft Certified Partner, which is what I'm trying to attain as well. I am a part of the partner program, but not a Certified Partner YET. Apparently linking in with other individuals who have various Microsoft technical certs or are Certified Partners themselves is a good way to increase your leverage with the Partner Program? I too am a registered member, but haven't gone further than registered due to the pricing structure they have in place for courses and exams. I use the membership for research and use most of their products.

If you are including "Microsoft Partners" with no certifications here, I would be a Partner. I plan to take advantage of some Microsoft training, but whether I plan to "get down and dirty and study hard" and take exams for certification is an unknown at this time.

Does anyone know if ordering the Action Pack or ISV increases your chance of becoming a "Microsoft Certified Partner"? That is the level I'm trying to get at, just to be able to display the logo on this website.

Yes well to go into it is a pain... I can become a small business specialist through them if I take Windows 2008 SBS, Configuring which seems easy. I am MCITP, MCTS, MCSA, and MCP.. I am also taking an upgrade for MCSA in October to 2008, the number of certs seems sufficient to me to be recognized as a Partner but this is not the case.

You would be listed as an associate but I don't know if it coints towards our competencies at all.

This idea was brought on by the fact that it is possible to sell copies of Windows 7 through Amazon.com's reseller program but NOT Microsoft directly or Microsoft Store which I thought to be strange. Its unfortunate they do not have a way to do this themselves with custom API's or a web interface... (online reselling of their products). You could become a certified reseller but then I guess you would have to buy in bulk and this is more geared towards large tech companies... there is a lot I don't know about the partner program in particular.

don't let that discourage you from being a registered member. there are great benefits along with tons of training material. There is a price structure to becoming certified, however, one route that could be taken is to use the training and find a sponsor (like a business) to pony up the paper for the actual certifications. Glad that I didn't really have any aspirations of becoming certified "anything". I just joined Microsoft Partner program because it looked like it might open some training opportunities for me. I will be 70 years old in a couple of years and I already got good "retirement certification". I just want "pasttime training" and that "don't need no certification".

Take any one Microsoft exam and you're automatically a MCP. Actually, most of the newest tests will get you a MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) but it's the same thing.

I'd recommend studying and taking a desktop OS exam of your choice. They tend to be the easier ones and if you're already familiar with an OS (like XP) it shouldn't be too difficult.

I have somehow been nominated for the Microsoft MVP award.. Not sure how I was lucky enough to get nominated but alright I guess..

Isn't MVP (Most Valued Poster) designation the result of both quantity AND quality of responses (general computer knowledge and clear, precise, and accurate responses) on the forum and not necessarily influenced by any particular certification or single, specific qualification? I don't know who nominates or elects to this designation, but I'm pulling for you. Congratulations.

I have a MCSE from the NT era, it is still good, I have a MCP from Windows 2000 for some certs, and one cert for Windows 2003 server (all Active Directory) before I retired. I may go for one or two on the 2009 Server for Active Directory.
