anyone use irfanview and webp animation files?

Hi,
I have come across the new webp image file format, I had no issue putting webm files into kdenlive however cannot import webp animation files. I tried using a program called Irfanview to use its batch conversion however it only creates still gif files, not animation files. Any ideas welcome, thanks.
