If you find that you being prevented from using the internet and you are getting pop-ups stating your pc has been attacked, then you need to get rid of this thing fast. It will infest your pc's registry. Basically it is a name changing rip-off rogue application that deliberately reports false system security threats. It can run under a few guises such as XP Antispyware 2011, XP Guard or XP Internet Security 2011, XP Home Security 2011........all these are FAKE security programmes. The loons that are sending out this scam ware are after your money by telling you to purchase their XP Anti-Virus 2011 .............but DON'T.
However, there is a fix so don't panic, you can get rid of it by running any good spyware prog like Spybot or similar. If you are running Windows 7, they have made it so that it will also attack this OS too. So be canny and get a good anti spy/bot installed before this thing gets you.
Keep ahead of this loons !

Many pieces of Malware that are talked about on internet forums, could never get a foothold on the PC if proper 'Preventive' measures are taken.

Remember, the old saying that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
I almost break down in tears, when I install a great program like Spybot Search & Destroy, set it up in Advanced mode and even give my customer a printed sheet of instructions on how to get updates, Immunize and run scans, and I go back to an infected PC a year later and find out that NOT ONE update was ever done. :(
Setup on Spybot S&D is critical, for the program to operate at its full potential. I wrote up a full sheet of instructions on just how to set up the program and I even put that instruction sheet on my web site, so anyone can use it.
    * My web site server is currently down. So I can only share that instruction sheet via PM or email.

Unless people get up off of their complacency and get ACTIVE in keeping their Security Software up to date, etc, spyware and viruses will continue to flourish.

I love Spybot S&D and have used it for years and I share it with EVERY one of my customers, but unless it's kept up to date, every Wednesday, it's not worth anything. An out-Of-Date security program is like NO Security Program at all.
A great companion to Spybot S&D, is "Spyware Blaster". It does no scans, but passes information about BAD web sites off to the Browsers, I.E. and Firefox. That prevents your browsers from ever going to known BAD sites, just like the Immunization in Spybot S&D.

Another great FREE program, that seems to work well along side most Anti-Virus programs, is "Malwarebytes". The FREE version, like Spybot S&D and Spyware Blaster, does not automatically update itself. (the paid version does). I purchased the Paid version, just to get real time scanning and auto updates/scans.
I run it on my own computer along side AVG 2011 Pro and the two program get along great together.

Keeping a computer safe isn't rocket science, but, it does require a little bit of operator intervention and dedication.

    Cheers mates!

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I get clients bringing computers filled with rogue-ware and malware in all the time. Rarely, if ever do I get a realtime warning about malware intruding on my computer. Which makes me need to ask, what do people do on their PC's? Click until they break their mouse?

MalwareBytes is also a great program, insane detection rates, low false positives and the realtime module ($$$) even blocks incoming connections from suspicious sites automatically.

The Anti-Malware companies that I would call the Worlds Best, all have various levels of software, from FREE for home users, to very expensive versions for Corporations and big networks. AVG FREE for instance, is an excellent piece of software, and the same virus scanner is used on the FREE version as the Pro version. But the difference is in the extras that the pro version uses. A rootkit scanner, an anti-spyware app, for instance and even a free look at AVG Tune-Up.
After using and sharing the FREE version for many years, I'm now the proud OWNER of AVG 2011 Pro and also AVG Tune-Up.
I even bought the Pro version of Malwarebytes.
Since I share software from my own computer with people all over the world, my computer has absolutely GOT to be 100% Malware FREE.

It only costs me a few dollars a year, for the Pro versions of my Security Software, but it's worth every penny of it.

    Play safe!
