Windows 10 bought wifi extender, but laptop won't connect

my phone and surface connect to the extended wifi network just fine, but my work laptop cannot...i tried to connect then the password field briefly appears then it suddenly says "cannot connect to network"....tried rebooting to no avail

note that this is a work PC and therefore my admin rights are limited so therefore doing any sort of system modifications (eg device manager) is a no-no

surface is using windows 10; phone is android...work laptop is also windows 10

Have you entered the correct password?
Try connecting with a lan cable, how is that?

I understand that, but if that works as expected you can concentrate on what has been left over and is yet stil untested.
