eg, when i started the program, freesshd, an event appeared in the event viewer application log.
it gave an error, but it also said "service started", and it had a date/time stamp.

but, when i started the freesshd telenet server, or the ssh server, no events appeared in the event viewer application log.
and when i stopped the freesshd telenet server, or the ssh server, or the whole freesshd program, no events appeared in the event viewer application log.

also, if i start something like the google chrome browser, or windows notepad, no events appeared in the event viewer application log.

can the event viewer do this, eg show when any program starts?

You can enable "Audit Process Creation" but only on Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise
