Hello again, I finally imported my .dbx files into Windows Live Mail successfully and can open the old emails in the new program, however, I cannot open the email. In this case its a document in .pdf format. When I double click it Windows 7 says I have no file associated with it and asks me to create one. I went to my "start" button and typed in "set file associations", it openend the whole list of possible extensions. PDF is set to open with Adobe. I can open emails already received within Windows Live Mail that have pdf extensions and it will open those but it will not associate or open a file with pdf extension from the old emails? What do I do now?
Thanks in advance for your reply,
AlCatt

Solution
It seems like you are facing an issue with opening PDF attachments from old emails in Windows Live Mail. The problem might be related to how the PDF files are being handled within the email client. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue: 1. Save the PDF Attachment Locally: - Save the PDF attachment from the email to your computer. - Try opening the saved PDF file directly from your computer by double-clicking on it. 2. Check Default PDF Handler: - Confirm that Adobe Reader (or any other PDF viewer you prefer) is set as the default program for opening PDF files. - To check this, right-click on a PDF file on your computer, select "Open with," and then choose "Choose default program." Ensure that Adobe Reader is selected. 3. Update Adobe Reader: - If you are using Adobe Reader, ensure that it is updated to the latest version. Outdated software can sometimes cause compatibility issues. 4. Third-Party PDF Viewers: - If you still encounter issues, try using a different PDF viewer software to see if the problem persists. 5. Use Adobe Reader within Windows Live Mail: - Check if there is an option within Windows Live Mail to specify the default PDF viewer for attachments. Look for settings related to opening attachments. 6. Reinstall Windows Live Mail: - If the issue persists, consider reinstalling Windows Live Mail to reset any misconfigured settings that might be causing the problem. 7. Check Antivirus/Firewall Settings: - Sometimes, security software can interfere with file associations. Temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall software and then trying to open the PDF attachment can help identify if they are causing the issue. If none of these steps resolve the problem, please let me know, and we can explore further options to troubleshoot the issue with opening PDF attachments in Windows Live Mail.
