Windows 7 Can't get my Xbox 360 to connect to Windows Media Centre

Hi all,

I really need help, I bought my PC with Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) in December last year. Connected my Xbox 360 and everything was running smooth, no issues.

This past Saturday I decided to install a new hard drive ( as a new volume) and copied all my files ( video, music etc) to the new hard drive. I changed my libraries to display the E drive in order for media player and media centre to pick it up etc.

I then wanted to watch movies on my Xbox using media centre and no files appeared, I then decided to remove the extender files from the printers and devices folder which I learned was not the correct way to do. I then preceded to reinstall the extender and this error kept on popping up: "Configuration error: An error was encountered while trying to configure your computer for use with this extender."

I have tried everything that was on the web so far (deleting certificates, restarting the network list, opening windows firewall ports, changed MTU in the registry, turned off firewall and anti-virus and security applications etc).

I uninstalled extender on the pc the correct way through media centre and on xbox still nothing.

I also used system restore to restore my PC to before I deleted the extender the incorrect way and still gives me same error.

I also noticed that all the attempts left alot of Mcx1 and Mcx3 files as well as Temp files on C:\Users. Any way that I can get rid of it, don't know if this could also have something to do with it.

Any help would really be appreciated, as this is one of the biggest mysteries for me. One moment it worked and the other moment it just does not want to work.

Also strange thing is the "Test Windows Media Center" is the only test that fails, it won't connect with my PC.

First, you can try this:
While attempting to use your Xbox 360 console as a Media Center Extender, you receive the error message: "Configuration Error"
(For many, this had not worked).

Here, one guy solved it (His post is at the bottom of the page)

Here others solved it:

Anyone who didn't solve it, ended up doing a clean Windows install and that fixed it, but I HATE that! :)

I also checked my event logs and kept on getting this:

Thanks for replies!

Yes, I have set it up correctly seeing that it previously worked fine.

I don't understand the option with the device mananger, I only have ATA Channels and Intel (R) storage controllers, no primary and secondary drives.
