I am have problems starting up windows 7. It gets to the point where it says starting windows, and has a red dot. (Looks like it's starting a loading bar maybe) Then it gives a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error. I started with 64bit, then tried 32bit. I even tried installing it within XP (which copied the files over without error, but when it tried to boot to 7 it gave the same error). Does anybody have any clue why it would give me that error?

It seems you are encountering a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error when trying to start up Windows 7. This error is generally hardware-related and could be triggered by a variety of issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem:

1. Hardware Check:
- Check your hardware components to ensure everything is properly connected and seated.
- Inspect the motherboard, RAM modules, CPU, and any other hardware for any physical damage.
- Reseat components like RAM sticks and reinstall any expansion cards.

2. Check for Overclocking:
- If you have overclocked your system, revert it to default settings. Overclocking can sometimes lead to stability issues and errors like MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

3. Update Drivers:
- Ensure that your drivers are up to date, especially the chipset, graphics, and storage drivers.
- Visit the manufacturer's websites to download and install the latest drivers compatible with Windows 7 for your hardware components.

4. Memory Check:
- Run a memory diagnostic test to check for any issues with your RAM. You can use Windows Memory Diagnostic or third-party tools like MemTest86.

5. Update BIOS:
- Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your motherboard. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve system stability.

6. Boot into Safe Mode:
- Try booting into Safe Mode to see if you can access your system without encountering the error. Safe Mode loads Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services.

7. Hardware Test:
- Perform hardware tests using diagnostic tools provided by your hardware manufacturer to identify any failing components.

If you continue to experience the MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error, you may need to consult with a professional technician or your hardware manufacturer for further assistance in diagnosing and resolving the issue.
