In a clip entitled 'Amazing Cat Gives Thumbs Up', Jimmy's female owner can be heard asking him to do his thang while she films him.
After gazing indifferently at the camera for a few seconds, our new favourite feline gives in and rolls out the trick.
The video then cuts to later, when Jimmy's informed it's time to go as he relaxes on the sofa and puts his thumb down.
'God I love cats!' is the effusive reaction from one enamoured YouTube viewer.
'LOL thumbs-up cat,' comments another.
'Cat have thumbs now. We, as a species, are finished,' is another of our favourite responses, as is: 'I, for one, welcome our new thumbed overlord.'
You probably suspected as much, but Jimmy's trick is down to a congenital physical anomaly rather than some awe-inducing moggy magic.
Polydactyl cats are born with more than the usual number of toes on one or more of their paws.
