Hey everyone,

I was recently working on a project where I was trying to import a video (.avi and .wmv) and I kept getting this error...

"A required system library did not initialize properly. Please ensure you have DirectShow 9 or QuickTime 6.5 or higher installed on your system."

I got this error even though I had the latest Directx(11) installed. Oh, and if you're wondering what 'DirectShow' is, don't worry, it comes packaged along with the latest installations of Directx.

Okay, first off, this is not a Windows 7 error as I originally thought, this is actually a problem with CS3.

Even though it says 'or', you can only fix this problem by installing both Directx AND Quicktime. Once they are both installed, restart flash and you should be able to import without any problems.

You would think for the thousands of Rands (or Dollars) that you end up paying for this product you would getting something void of retarded bugs like this... :frown:

It seems like you encountered an issue while working on a project involving video import in Adobe CS3 where you received an error message stating that a required system library did not initialize properly, and to ensure that you have DirectShow 9 or QuickTime 6.5 or higher installed. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue: 1. Install QuickTime: Ensure that QuickTime 6.5 or a higher version is installed on your system. QuickTime provides components needed for handling certain video formats. 2. Update DirectX: Although you mentioned having DirectX 11 installed, ensure it is up to date. Sometimes, certain applications may require specific older versions to function properly. 3. Restart Adobe CS3: After...

Restart Adobe CS3: After installing both QuickTime and ensuring DirectX is updated, restart Adobe CS3 to allow the changes to take effect. 4. Check Compatibility: Verify the compatibility of Adobe CS3 with the versions of DirectShow and QuickTime required for proper functionality. Once you have installed both QuickTime and ensured DirectX is up to date, restarting Adobe CS3 should allow you to import videos without encountering the system library initialization error. Remember to always keep your software up to date to avoid compatibility issues like the one you faced. If you encounter any further issues, feel free to ask for assistance!
