My friend set up a guest account on his computer for me to use.

Windows7 copied the administrator's desktop icons to the guest account desktop, where I deleted them.

Deleting those icons also deleted them on the administrator's account.

Is this the way it's supposed to work?

When it comes to Windows 7, the behavior you described with the guest account affecting the administrator account's desktop icons is not the typical or intended behavior. Here are a few points to consider: 1. Separation of User Accounts: User accounts, including the guest account, are meant to be separate entities with their own settings and configurations. Changes made in one account, like deleting desktop icons, should not affect other accounts. 2. Permissions: One factor to consider is the permissions set for the guest account. Guest accounts usually have limited permissions to prevent them from making system-wide changes. Guest accounts usually have limited permissions to prevent them from making system-wide changes. However, in your case, it seems like the guest account had the ability to modify the administrator's desktop. 3. Potential Issue: The behavior you experienced could be due to a specific configuration or a system issue. It's not the standard behavior for Windows 7 to sync desktop settings between accounts in this manner. 4. Resolving the Issue: To prevent further issues, it's advisable to check the permissions assigned to the guest account. Additionally, you can recreate the desktop icons for the administrator account if they were accidentally deleted. To address this specific situation, you may need to investigate the guest account's permissions and ensure that they are appropriately restricted to avoid unintended changes to the administrator account's settings. If the problem persists, it might be helpful to seek further assistance to diagnose any underlying issues with the account configurations. If you need help with specific steps to check permissions or recreate desktop icons, feel free to ask for guidance!
