I have been using 7 since the 6000 builds. I just started using the RC1, and the data transfer rate is stupid slow. I can't get USB 2.0 above 19 MB/s and I can't get drive to drive above 10 MB/s! The fact that my USB is going faster than my two harddrives is absolutely rediculas. I have seen this was a problem in Vista, but has anyone found a fix. Sorry if this is a repeat. I did a search, but I didn't find any other posts like this.

Solution
It seems like you're experiencing slow data transfer rates on Windows 7 RC1, particularly with USB 2.0 and drive-to-drive transfers. Slow transfer speeds can be frustrating, but there are a few things you can try to improve the situation. Here are some steps you can take to potentially address this issue:

Tips to Improve Data Transfer Speeds on Windows 7 RC1:

  1. Check USB Port and Cable:
    • Ensure that you're using a good USB cable and connecting to a USB 2.0 port (if your device and port support it).
    []Update Drivers:
    • Make sure that all your USB and storage device drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause slower transfer speeds.

    ]Adjust Power Settings:

    ]Adjust Power Settings:
    • Sometimes, power-saving settings can affect transfer speeds. Adjust your power settings to ensure maximum performance during transfers.
    []Disable Background Programs:
    • Close any unnecessary programs running in the background that might be consuming system resources and affecting transfer speeds.
    [
    ]Check for Disk Errors:
    • Use the built-in Windows utility to check for disk errors that could be impacting performance.
    []Use Different USB Ports:
    • Try using different USB ports on your system to see if the transfer speeds improve.
    [
    ]Check for Malware:
    • Run a malware scan to ensure that malicious software is not affecting your system's performance.
    []Optimize Drives:
    • Optimize your drives using the built-in Windows disk optimization tool to improve performance.
    [
    ]Update Windows:
    • Make sure your Windows 7 RC1 is fully updated with the latest patches and fixes.
